Designed for pregnant women, parents, and caregivers with children prenatal to age five, HMG offers culturally responsive support tailored to each family’s unique needs.

    Through community-focused partnerships, AHI provides:

Coordinated Access: A network linking families with culturally aligned services and resources.

Family & Community Partnership: Genuine collaboration with families to build a responsive, community-driven support system.

Data Collection & Evaluation: Insights that continuously enhance service access.

Service Provider Partnerships: Collaboration with health, social service, and early learning providers for streamlined support.

With “warm connections” to developmental guidance, basic needs, and community resources, AHI’s HMG program helps families access the care they need, honoring cultural strengths and resilience.

  • Resilient Adults Program

Afghan Health Initiative’s Resilient Adults Program, supported by DSHS, offers a welcoming space for Afghan and immigrant women to connect, learn, and thrive. Through culturally rooted support sessions, the program focuses on building resilience and mental well-being while fostering meaningful community bonds.

    Key program offerings include:

Chai & Chat Sessions: Casual gatherings where women can share experiences, discuss challenges, and support each other in a friendly, understanding environment.

Practical Workshops: Practical guidance to navigate the resettlement process, build new skills, and adapt to life in the U.S.

Skill-Building Opportunities: Sessions designed to help women learn valuable skills for personal growth and empowerment.

Community Connection: Opportunities to form friendships and create a supportive network with other women on similar journeys.

This program empowers Afghan and immigrant women with a sense of community, friendship, and resilience, helping them flourish in their new home.

  • Universal Development and Screening Program

The UDS program, supported by King County’s Developmental Disabilities & Early Childhood Supports Division, under the BSK Initiative offers culturally and linguistically tailored developmental screenings for young children in King County. Through this program, we support families in celebrating their child’s unique growth, gaining knowledge about early development, and accessing resources to ensure every child thrives.

Our family-centered approach partners closely with parents and caregivers, providing guidance on developmental milestones and helping them become trusted advocates in their communities. The program also offers community-designed learning sessions, where families can learn from culturally rooted content, share experiences, and connect with supportive services. This ensures families feel welcomed, understood, and empowered in supporting their children’s development.
